## Key points

- We gave Seedance 2.5 and Kling 4.0 the same reference images, prompt, length and resolution in ten tests, one take each, and published every clip unedited.
- On our picks Seedance 2.5 won all ten, on texture, physics and a less plastic look. A full bag of coffee, for example, gets lifted with two hands.
- A strict frame-by-frame review was closer: Seedance 7 tests to 3 and 408 points to 401 out of 700. Kling won the pancake flip, the sign text and the 21:9 camera direction.
- Neither model played our supplied voiceover verbatim. Measured against the track, Seedance matched 0.54 and Kling 0.59, where an exact copy scores 1.00.
- Kling 4.0 costs about a third as much per second on fal: $0.157 at 720p against about $0.473 for Seedance 2.5, read October 29, 2026.

## At a glance

- **What did we test?** Seedance 2.5 against Kling 4.0 reference-to-video in ten scenarios, with the same references, prompt, length and resolution for both and one take each.
- **Which one won?** Seedance 2.5, on all ten of our picks. A strict frame-by-frame review we ran alongside was closer: Seedance 7 tests to 3.
- **Which one is cheaper?** Kling 4.0, by about 3x per second on fal at list price: $0.157 against about $0.473 at 720p.

We make every CellCog video on Seedance 2.5. Kling 4.0 opened its API on October 28, at about a third of Seedance's per-second price on fal, so we tested whether it belongs in our stack. Ten scenarios, the same reference images, prompt, length and resolution for both, one take each, nothing cherry-picked.

Our verdict: Seedance 2.5 won all ten on our picks, for texture, physics and a less plastic look. A strict frame-by-frame review we ran alongside was closer, 7 tests to 3 and 408 points to 401 out of 700. Both are shown under every clip, with the exact prompt.

## The scorecard

*Table: Ten tests, one take each: strict review scores out of 70, and our pick*

| # | Test | Seedance 2.5 | Kling 4.0 | Our pick |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Product handling: a full bag of coffee | 43 | 40 | Seedance |
| 2 | Two-person dialogue at a cafe table | 42 | 41 | Seedance |
| 3 | Physics: a pancake flip | 36 | 40 | Seedance |
| 4 | Exact text on a neon sign and a chalkboard | 39 | 43 | Seedance |
| 5 | A painterly cartoon mascot | 41 | 40 | Seedance |
| 6 | Keyframes: start frame to end frame (Kling's feature) | 48 | 45 | Seedance |
| 7 | 21:9 cinematic at 1080p | 38 | 40 | Seedance |
| 8 | Lip-sync to a supplied voiceover (Seedance's feature) | 41 | 36 | Seedance |
| 9 | A 30-second single take | 33 | 32 | Seedance |
| 10 | Motion transfer from a reference video | 47 | 44 | Seedance |
| | Total | 408 | 401 | Seedance, 10 of 10 |

The review scored seven criteria per test (identity, prompt adherence, dialogue, motion and physics, audio, the test's special point, overall) and named every defect with a timestamp. Twice its claims were wrong when we measured: it called one Seedance clip silent (its audio reads -30.7 dB on average) and said Seedance played our voiceover verbatim (it did not). Both tests were re-scored. Our picks weigh what a viewer notices first: whether a shot reads as filmed or as rendered.

## How we tested

Seedance 2.5 ran through CellCog's own video agent; Kling 4.0 ran on fal's kling/v4/reference-to-video endpoint from our own fal account. Each test got one set of reference images made by our image agent, one prompt, and the same length, aspect ratio and resolution: 720p and 16:9 with sound on, except the 21:9 test at 1080p. Each clip below is the Seedance take followed by the Kling take, joined end to end and otherwise unedited. We generated one take per model per test and kept it, good or bad.

## What it costs

*Table: List price per second of output on fal, read October 29, 2026*

| Model | 720p | 1080p |
|---|---|---|
| Kling 4.0, no input video | $0.157 | $0.235 |
| Seedance 2.5, no video reference | about $0.473 | about $1.164 |

Seedance's fal price is fal's own estimate for a standard 16:9 clip; it bills by tokens, so other shapes cost a little more or less. Our ten Kling takes cost about $18 at list price. At three times the price per second, Seedance has to earn its place. On these ten it did for us; a team making many short physics-heavy clips might weigh it differently.

## 1. Product handling: a full bag of coffee

![Two AI video takes of the same scene, labeled Seedance 2.5 then Kling 4.0: product handling: a full bag of coffee.](https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-01-poster.webp)
*Test 1: Seedance 2.5 first, then Kling 4.0. Same prompt, one take each*

Video (MP4): https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-01.mp4

Seedance lifts the full bag with both hands and turns the label to the camera, the way a person would. Kling's label already faces front, and it slides the bag along one-handed as if it weighed nothing. Strict review: Seedance 43, Kling 40. Our pick: Seedance.

The prompt, the same for both:

> @Image1 is the woman's face and identity: a barista with shoulder-length dark curly hair, small gold hoop earrings, an olive-green apron over a cream knit sweater. @Image2 is the coffee bag; keep its shape and its label exactly as shown: NORTH ROAST on the first line, SINGLE ORIGIN below.
> Scene: a small, bright coffee roastery, a copper roaster softly out of focus behind her, soft window light from the left.
> Action: she stands behind a wooden counter, picks up the coffee bag from @Image2, turns its label toward the camera and says in a warm, friendly voice: "This is our new single origin. Roasted this morning, right here." She smiles and sets the bag down on the counter.
> Camera: medium shot, eye-level, static.
> Sound: quiet roastery ambience and the soft crinkle of the bag. No music.

## 2. Two-person dialogue at a cafe table

![Two AI video takes of the same scene, labeled Seedance 2.5 then Kling 4.0: two-person dialogue at a cafe table.](https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-02-poster.webp)
*Test 2: Seedance 2.5 first, then Kling 4.0. Same prompt, one take each*

Video (MP4): https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-02.mp4

Both keep both faces and give the right line to the right speaker. Kling's hand warps on the cup; Seedance set one cup where the prompt asked for two. Strict review: Seedance 42, Kling 41. Our pick: Seedance.

The prompt, the same for both:

> @Image1 is the man (Marcus): short black hair with a fade, trimmed beard, rectangular tortoiseshell glasses, mustard-yellow corduroy overshirt over a white t-shirt. @Image2 is the woman (Elena): silver-grey pixie cut, small round gold glasses, navy turtleneck, thin silver necklace. They are two different people.
> Scene: they sit facing each other at a small round marble cafe table with two coffee cups between them, cozy cafe, warm afternoon window light.
> Action: Marcus (left, mustard overshirt) leans in and says in an excited, warm male voice: "I quit my job today." Elena (right, navy turtleneck) raises her eyebrows, smiles and replies in a calm, warm female voice: "Finally. What are you building?" Marcus laughs.
> Camera: medium two-shot from the side, eye-level, static.
> Sound: quiet cafe murmur, cups on saucers. No music.

## 3. Physics: a pancake flip

![Two AI video takes of the same scene, labeled Seedance 2.5 then Kling 4.0: physics: a pancake flip.](https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-03-poster.webp)
*Test 3: Seedance 2.5 first, then Kling 4.0. Same prompt, one take each*

Video (MP4): https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-03.mp4

The strict review went to Kling here: its pancake follows a believable arc, while Seedance's hangs in the air for about 1.5 seconds. We still picked Seedance for the texture and the less plastic look of the whole shot. Strict review: Seedance 36, Kling 40. Our pick: Seedance.

The prompt, the same for both:

> @Image1 is the chef: shaved head, short beard, black chef jacket with rolled sleeves, a white towel over his shoulder.
> Scene: a busy restaurant kitchen, gas stove, stainless steel, steam.
> Action: he holds the black cast-iron pan by its handle, gives one confident flick of the wrist, the golden pancake flips up into the air, turns over exactly once and lands flat back in the pan, cooked side up. He grins.
> Camera: medium shot from the side, static.
> Sound: sizzling, the soft slap of the pancake landing, kitchen clatter. No dialogue. No music.

## 4. Exact text on a neon sign and a chalkboard

![Two AI video takes of the same scene, labeled Seedance 2.5 then Kling 4.0: exact text on a neon sign and a chalkboard.](https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-04-poster.webp)
*Test 4: Seedance 2.5 first, then Kling 4.0. Same prompt, one take each*

Video (MP4): https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-04.mp4

Both spell OPEN LATE and OAT LATTE $5 correctly. The review went to Kling: Seedance's camera push takes the neon out of frame and its walker slides, while Kling keeps the sign in frame but barely moves the camera. We picked Seedance on the look of the scene. Strict review: Seedance 39, Kling 43. Our pick: Seedance.

The prompt, the same for both:

> @Image1 is the coffee shop front at night: the pink neon sign above the door reads exactly OPEN LATE, and the black chalkboard on the sidewalk reads exactly OAT LATTE on the first line and $5 below. Keep both texts exactly as written and legible in every frame.
> Action: light rain falls; a person in a yellow raincoat walks past the chalkboard and into the shop through the front door; the neon flickers once and stays lit.
> Camera: slow dolly in toward the door, eye-level.
> Sound: rain on the pavement, distant traffic, a door chime. No music.

## 5. A painterly cartoon mascot

![Two AI video takes of the same scene, labeled Seedance 2.5 then Kling 4.0: a painterly cartoon mascot.](https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-05-poster.webp)
*Test 5: Seedance 2.5 first, then Kling 4.0. Same prompt, one take each*

Video (MP4): https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-05.mp4

Both hold the painterly style in every frame. Kling cuts to a wider shot mid-hop despite the static camera in the prompt; Seedance stretches the fox's legs on the hop. Strict review: Seedance 41, Kling 40. Our pick: Seedance.

The prompt, the same for both:

> @Image1 is Pip, an original cartoon fox mascot: a small red fox standing upright, teal knitted scarf, small brown satchel, big friendly eyes. Style: 2D painterly animation with visible gouache brush strokes on textured paper; keep it painterly in every frame, never photoreal and never 3D.
> Scene: the sunny autumn forest clearing from @Image1.
> Action: Pip waves at the camera with one paw and says in a bright, cheerful young voice: "Hi! I'm Pip. Want to see my favourite spot?" Then Pip hops once and points toward the stream.
> Camera: medium shot, static.
> Sound: rustling leaves, birdsong, a gentle stream. No music.

## 6. Keyframes: start frame to end frame (Kling's feature)

![Two AI video takes of the same scene, labeled Seedance 2.5 then Kling 4.0: keyframes: start frame to end frame (kling's feature).](https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-06-poster.webp)
*Test 6: Seedance 2.5 first, then Kling 4.0. Same prompt, one take each*

Video (MP4): https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-06.mp4

Kling got the two frames through its native start and end image inputs; Seedance got the same two frames as references. Both land on both frames. Seedance's bloom unfolds progressively, while Kling's petals morph mid-bloom. Strict review: Seedance 48, Kling 45. Our pick: Seedance.

The prompt:

> A single tall sunflower in a garden, a wooden fence and misty field behind. Static camera, eye level with the flower head, the same framing throughout.
> Action: a time-lapse from dawn to noon. The tightly closed green bud slowly opens, the green sepals peel back and golden-yellow petals unfold one ring at a time until the flower head is fully open, facing the camera with a dark seed centre. The light warms from cool blue dawn with mist to bright midday sun and blue sky; dew evaporates; clouds drift fast.
> Sound: soft morning birdsong turning to midday insects and a light breeze. No music.

Seedance also got this opening line: Begin exactly on @Image1 (the closed bud) and finish exactly on @Image2 (the open flower). Kling got the two images as its start and end frames.

## 7. 21:9 cinematic at 1080p

![Two AI video takes of the same scene, labeled Seedance 2.5 then Kling 4.0: 21:9 cinematic at 1080p.](https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-07-poster.webp)
*Test 7: Seedance 2.5 first, then Kling 4.0. Same prompt, one take each*

Video (MP4): https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-07.mp4

The prompt asked the car to come toward and past the camera. Seedance drives it away down the road; Kling follows the direction, but the car slows and smears as it passes. The review went to Kling on direction; we picked Seedance for how the car moves. Strict review: Seedance 38, Kling 40. Our pick: Seedance.

The prompt, the same for both:

> @Image1 is the scene: a winding coastal cliff road at golden hour, dramatic sea cliffs, turquoise water, low warm sun. A single vintage dark-green convertible drives along the road.
> Action: the convertible drives toward the camera around the bend, then past it along the cliff edge; waves break white against the rocks below; long shadows; dust lifts slightly behind the tyres.
> Camera: slow aerial drone shot tracking alongside the car, anamorphic cinematic look, 21:9.
> Sound: the engine note, wind, waves crashing below. No music.

## 8. Lip-sync to a supplied voiceover (Seedance's feature)

![Two AI video takes of the same scene, labeled Seedance 2.5 then Kling 4.0: lip-sync to a supplied voiceover (seedance's feature).](https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-08-poster.webp)
*Test 8: Seedance 2.5 first, then Kling 4.0. Same prompt, one take each*

Video (MP4): https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-08.mp4

Seedance accepts an audio track directly; Kling does not, so it got a voice cloned from the same track and the same words. We measured both against the track: an exact copy scores 1.00, Seedance 0.54, Kling 0.59. Neither played our voiceover verbatim. Seedance sounds closer and syncs its lips better. Strict review: Seedance 41, Kling 36. Our pick: Seedance.

The prompt:

> @Image1 is the baker's face and identity: dark hair tied back in a low bun, flour-dusted navy linen apron over a white shirt, standing behind a bakery counter with sourdough loaves on wooden shelves. @Audio1 is the complete, final speech track for this video: she lip-syncs precisely to @Audio1. Transcript of @Audio1: "Every loaf here starts at four in the morning. Slow dough, real butter, no shortcuts. That's the whole secret."
> Action: she looks at the camera, speaks the line calmly and warmly, and smiles at the end.
> Camera: medium close-up, static, side window light.
> Sound: quiet bakery ambience under the speech. No music.

Kling got the same words and description, with the voice cloned from the track (fal's Kling create-voice) in place of @Audio1.

## 9. A 30-second single take

![Two AI video takes of the same scene, labeled Seedance 2.5 then Kling 4.0: a 30-second single take.](https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-09-poster.webp)
*Test 9: Seedance 2.5 first, then Kling 4.0. Same prompt, one take each*

Video (MP4): https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-09.mp4

Both hold one continuous take with all four beats and both lines. Neither counts four oranges one by one: Kling scoops three at once, Seedance drops them in pairs. The closest test of the ten. Strict review: Seedance 33, Kling 32. Our pick: Seedance.

The prompt, the same for both:

> ONE CONTINUOUS TAKE, a single evolving shot, no cuts. @Image1 is the vendor: grey stubble, flat cap, rolled-up denim shirt sleeves, canvas apron, behind a fruit stall of oranges, lemons and green apples under a striped awning in a busy morning street market.
> 0-7s: he arranges oranges into a neat pyramid, then looks up at the camera and says in a warm, gravelly voice: "Morning! Best oranges on the street."
> 7-15s: a customer's hand reaches in from the right holding a paper bag; he fills it with four oranges one by one.
> 15-23s: he takes a lemon, cuts it in half with a small knife on a wooden board and holds the halves up to the camera, juice glistening.
> 23-30s: he wipes his hands on his apron, leans on the crates, smiles and says: "Come back tomorrow, there's more." He gives a small nod.
> Camera: one slow, continuous dolly in from medium wide to medium shot across the whole take, eye-level, no cuts.
> Sound: market chatter, crates, a paper bag rustle, the knife on wood. No music.

## 10. Motion transfer from a reference video

![Two AI video takes of the same scene, labeled Seedance 2.5 then Kling 4.0: motion transfer from a reference video.](https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-10-poster.webp)
*Test 10: Seedance 2.5 first, then Kling 4.0. Same prompt, one take each*

Video (MP4): https://cellcog.ai/blog/media/seedance-2-5-vs-kling-4-0/pair-10.mp4

Both copy all four moves from the reference clip onto the astronaut, with nothing of the source man or studio leaking in. Seedance holds the suit and backpack steadier through the spin. Strict review: Seedance 47, Kling 44. Our pick: Seedance.

The prompt, the same for both:

> @Image1 is the astronaut: white spacesuit, helmet visor raised, a friendly woman in her 30s with short dark hair, standing on a flat city rooftop at sunset. @Video1 defines ONLY the body movement and its timing: copy that exact movement sequence (she raises both arms out to the sides, turns a full circle on the spot, steps forward once, and finishes with a wide wave of her right hand). Do not copy the man, his clothes or the white studio from @Video1. The astronaut performs the movement on the rooftop from @Image1, the sunset skyline behind her.
> Camera: full-body wide shot, static.
> Sound: light wind and distant city hum. No dialogue. No music.

## What we are doing with it

Seedance 2.5 stays our video engine. Kling 4.0 is a real model at a third of the price, and the strict review favored it on a ballistic arc, on keeping a sign in frame and on following a camera direction, so it stays on our watch list for physics and action shots. Any change would start as a small routing test, never a switch.

Our conflict, declared: CellCog's video agent runs on Seedance 2.5, so we had a reason to like the result. That is why every clip, prompt and review score is on this page, unedited.

## FAQ

**Is Seedance 2.5 better than Kling 4.0?**

In our ten tests, yes. We picked Seedance 2.5 in all ten for texture, physics and a less plastic look. A strict review scored it closer, 408 points to 401 out of 700, with Kling ahead on three specific points.

**Is Kling 4.0 cheaper than Seedance 2.5?**

Yes. On fal at list price, Kling 4.0 costs $0.157 per second at 720p and $0.235 at 1080p; Seedance 2.5 costs about $0.473 and $1.164. Our ten Kling takes cost about $18.

**Can Kling 4.0 be used through an API?**

Yes. Kling opened the 4.0 API on October 28, 2026, and the fal endpoint kling/v4/reference-to-video answered our calls on October 29, even though fal's Kling 4.0 page still said API access was coming soon.

**Can either model lip-sync to an exact voiceover?**

Not verbatim, in our test. Both re-voiced the line. Measured against the supplied track, Seedance matched 0.54 and Kling 0.59, where an exact copy scores 1.00. For an exact voiceover, lay the original track over the picture afterwards.

**Which video model does CellCog use?**

Seedance 2.5. This test was our own engineering check of whether Kling 4.0 belongs in the stack; it stays on our watch list for physics and action shots.
