# CellCog Linear Integration Guide

Assign any Linear issue to @CellCog and get research, documents, images, and video delivered back as an agent session in the issue thread.

---

## Quick Start

1. Go to [cellcog.ai/linear](https://cellcog.ai/linear), or open **Connectors** in the sidebar, then **Delegations**, then **Linear**
2. Click **Connect Linear Workspace** (create a CellCog account first if you do not have one)
3. Authorize CellCog on Linear's OAuth screen
4. Done. @CellCog is now assignable in your Linear workspace

One admin connects, the whole team delegates.

---

## How It Works

1. **Assign an issue** to @CellCog (or @-mention it in a comment)
2. CellCog starts an **agent session** on the issue and moves the issue to Started
3. The agent reads the issue title, description, and comments for context
4. You see the agent's **thought stream** as it works
5. If the agent needs clarification, it **asks directly** in the issue thread
6. **Artifacts are delivered** inline as links: reports, PDFs, dashboards, images, videos

### Multi-Sender Support

When several team members comment on one issue, CellCog resolves who sent each message and addresses that person in its responses.

### What CellCog Can Deliver

| Category | Examples |
|----------|----------|
| **Research** | Market analysis, competitive intelligence, technical research with citations |
| **Documents** | PDF reports, slide decks, spreadsheets, contracts |
| **Visual** | Images, infographics, diagrams, brand assets |
| **Audio & Video** | Voiceovers, music, marketing videos, explainers |
| **Interactive** | HTML dashboards, data visualizations, prototypes |

Artifacts are delivered as links in the issue thread and are accessible to members of the connected workspace.

## Connecting

### From the Integration Page

[cellcog.ai/linear](https://cellcog.ai/linear) is the integration overview, with an interactive simulator that shows how a Linear issue turns into a CellCog response. Log in (or sign up), click **Connect Linear Workspace**, and authorize CellCog in Linear.

### From Connectors

1. Open **Connectors** in the sidebar, then **Delegations**, then **Linear**
2. Click **Connect Linear Workspace**

### Connecting Additional Workspaces

Click **Connect another workspace** on the Linear page under Delegations. Linear's OAuth screen lets you pick the workspace. Each workspace is its own connection.

---

## Managing Connections

Open **Connectors**, then **Delegations**, then **Linear**. The header shows your connection status and the number of tasks delegated so far. Each connected workspace lists:

- Workspace name and member count
- Team access: all public teams, or the number of teams granted
- Connection date and the time of the last member sync
- A **Disconnect** button

### Disconnecting

1. Click **Disconnect** next to the workspace
2. Confirm

What happens:
- OAuth tokens are revoked immediately
- Users in that workspace lose the ability to delegate to CellCog
- Active agent sessions are marked as errored
- CellCog may still appear in Linear's "Authorized Applications". Your workspace admin can remove it from [Linear Security Settings](https://linear.app/settings/account/security)

---

## Billing

The CellCog user who connected the workspace pays. Their credits are consumed for **all activity in that workspace**; there is no per-user billing. Tasks consume credits the same way as regular CellCog chats.

If someone else later reconnects the same workspace, the workspace is re-linked to that person, and their CellCog account is billed from then on.

---

## Permissions

| Permission | Purpose |
|------------|---------|
| **Agent session access** | Receive delegation webhooks when a user mentions @CellCog or assigns an issue; post back thoughts, questions, and final responses |
| **Workspace metadata** | Organization name, teams granted, and workspace member emails (for artifact access control) |
| **Issue read + transition** | Fetch issue context and move issues to Started on pickup |

---

## Team Access

- **Who can delegate:** every member of the connected Linear workspace, with no per-user setup
- **Artifact access:** members of the connected workspace, using the member emails CellCog syncs from Linear
- **Member sync:** runs when you connect and is kept current from Linear's user-change events; the last sync time shows on the workspace row

## Linear as an MCP Server

Delegation and MCP are two different things:

- **Delegation** (this guide): Linear hands work to CellCog. You assign an issue to @CellCog, and the agent session runs inside Linear.
- **MCP server**: a CellCog agent reads and writes your Linear from a CellCog chat. Ask an agent to triage your inbox, file issues from a research report, or update a project, and it calls Linear's tools directly.

To set up the MCP route: open **Connectors**, then **Tools**, then **MCP servers**. Add Linear's MCP endpoint URL, pick **Sign in (OAuth)** as the authentication, and complete the sign-in popup. Its tools then appear in any chat where **Tools** is enabled, behind your approval threshold like every other tool. See the [Connectors Guide](./CellCog_Connectors_Guide.md) for the MCP servers page.

Use delegation when your team lives in Linear and wants results in the issue. Use the MCP route when the work starts in CellCog and Linear is one of the systems the agent should act on.

---

## Revoking Access

**From CellCog:** Connectors, then Delegations, then Linear, then **Disconnect**

**From Linear:** [Linear Security Settings](https://linear.app/settings/account/security), then remove CellCog

For complete revocation, disconnect from both sides.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Who pays for tasks delegated from Linear?
The CellCog user who connected the workspace. Their credits are consumed for all workspace activity.

### Can I connect multiple Linear workspaces?
Yes. Each workspace is its own connection. All of them bill to the CellCog account that connected them.

### Do I need to set up each team member?
No. Connect once, and the whole workspace can delegate.

### What if the billing owner runs out of credits?
New tasks cannot start until credits are added.

### Does the agent access all my Linear issues?
No. It reads the issues it is assigned to or @-mentioned in.

### What happens if I disconnect and reconnect?
Sessions that were marked errored on disconnect do not resume. The reconnected workspace is linked to whoever reconnects it, and their account is billed.

### How do I see Linear-delegated tasks in CellCog?
They appear as regular chats in the connecting user's CellCog account.

### Can I connect Linear workspaces for two different companies?
Every workspace bills to the CellCog account that connected it, and one CellCog account is one organization, one company. Running a second company means a second CellCog account with an email on that company's domain; connect the second company's Linear workspace from there.

### Should I use delegation or the MCP server?
Delegation when the work starts in Linear and should end in the issue. MCP when the work starts in a CellCog chat and Linear is one of the tools the agent should use. Both can be set up at the same time.
