Anthropic released the Claude for Nonprofits plugin on October 26, 2026, a set of skills and connectors built with about 30 nonprofits for the work that stretches small teams: fundraising, marketing, hiring and board work. It ships to every verified nonprofit organization on Claude.
The audience is small. Anthropic says more than 25,000 nonprofits use Claude and more than 75% of them have fewer than 10 seats, so the plugin is pitched less as a new model and more as staff a five-person team does not have.

Anthropic released the Claude for Nonprofits plugin on October 26, 2026: skills and connectors built with about 30 nonprofits for fundraising, marketing, hiring and board work.
Its setup skill asks where an organization keeps donor data, grant files, finances and policies, saves that map, and every other skill in the plugin reads it first.
Fundraising skills cover the whole cycle: find funders and open grants with sources cited, break down an RFP, draft proposals and reports, and brief staff before funder calls.
More than 25,000 nonprofits use Claude and over 75% have fewer than 10 seats. Discounts run up to 75%, and about 90% in low- and middle-income countries, where Team seats cost $3 a user a month.
Claude Corps is placing 1,000 early-career fellows in at least 400 US nonprofits, and Anthropic plans to extend it with pro bono consultants through Taproot.
§ 01What is in the plugin
Anthropic built the skills with its Design Partner Circle, about 30 organizations from single-region US teams to international groups working in dozens of countries. Fundraisers, operations leads and chiefs of staff tried early versions on real work this fall.
| Area | What the skills do |
|---|---|
| Setup | Map where donor data, grant files, finances and policies live; answer “Can I use Claude for this?” from the organization’s own AI policy |
| Find funders | Research donors, foundations and companies, and surface open grants, with sources cited |
| Decide | Break a forwarded RFP into eligibility, requirements and what it would take to compete |
| Write | Turn an RFP into a requirements list and a first draft from the team’s own material; grant reports cite their figures |
| Steward | Brief before a funder call, write-up and thank-you after, donor updates in the team’s voice, re-engagement plans |
| Marketing | Plan a campaign sized to the team, draft in the organization’s voice, second read before it goes out |
| Hiring and people | Job post with interview guide and scoring rubric, a 90-day plan, answers from the staff handbook |
| Board | Find skill gaps on the board, draft candidate outreach, orientation packets, plan the next meeting’s deck |
§ 02The map comes first
The design choice that matters most is the setup skill. Claude asks where the team keeps each kind of record and, with memory on, saves that map for each person. Then it offers to connect the tools it cannot reach yet.
Every other skill reads the map first. Anthropic’s framing: Claude “knows where to look and you don’t have to point it to the same source for each task.” Small teams repeat the same pointers dozens of times a week; this removes them.
The second setup skill is policy. Staff ask whether a task is allowed and get the answer from the organization’s own AI use policy, and teams without one get a Claude Academy tutorial on writing it.
§ 03What it costs
| When | What changed |
|---|---|
| December 2025 | Claude for Nonprofits launches: discounts of up to 75%, connectors for Blackbaud, Candid and Benevity, a free AI Fluency course with GivingTuesday |
| Over the past year | Nonprofit plans get the same models as standard Team and Enterprise; Team minimum drops to two people; Claude Code included at no extra cost |
| September 2026 | About 90% off for verified nonprofits in low- and middle-income countries, standard Team seats at $3 per user per month |
| October 26, 2026 | The Claude for Nonprofits plugin ships; Claude Corps extension with Taproot announced |
| November 10 and 12, 2026 | Two live webinars, one for admins on data handling and AI policy, one for staff |
Anthropic does not list a separate price for the plugin; it rides on the nonprofit plans.
§ 04People, not only tools
Anthropic names two barriers beyond cost: too few people with AI skills, and too few tools built for how nonprofits work.
- Claude Corps: 1,000 early-career fellows placed in at least 400 US nonprofits, from food banks to art museums to veteran support groups.
- Taproot: Anthropic plans to extend Claude Corps through a partnership that would match nonprofits with experienced pro bono consultants for shorter projects.
- Partners: Accenture, BCG, The Bridgespan Group, Deloitte, Slalom and others are named as adoption partners.
§ 05What the design partners say
Sixteen organizations are quoted. Three lines stand out:
- Montgomery County Food Bank: one partner agency “now spends 40% less to feed the same neighbors” after Claude compared retail prices with buying through the food bank.
- Prosper Global: testers told Anthropic “the first version assumed a small US charity”, and the next version handled a Bogotá job posting with Colombia’s context.
- International Justice Mission: “It strengthens our proposals while keeping the decisions with our people.”
These are selected quotes on Anthropic’s own page, not measured results.
§ 06What Anthropic left out
- Where the plugin runs. The post does not say which Claude surfaces load it.
- Usage limits. Nothing on how far a discounted seat goes before limits.
- Outcome numbers. No count of grants won or hours saved across the 30 partners.
§ 07Our conflict, and what it means for a small team
Our conflict, declared: every CellCog tier runs on Claude Opus 5.5, so we are a customer of the model behind this plugin.
The plugin’s best idea is one you can copy anywhere: write down once where your records live and what your AI policy allows, and make every task start from that. A tool that keeps that context between tasks is what turns a chatbot into something a five-person team can lean on during year-end fundraising.
§ 08What we are watching
- The next releases. Anthropic calls the plugin “the first of several releases”.
- The webinars. November 10 for admins, November 12 for staff.
- Taproot. Whether the Claude Corps extension moves from planned to live.

Q1When did Anthropic release the Claude for Nonprofits plugin?
October 26, 2026. Claude for Nonprofits itself launched in December 2025 with discounts and connectors; the plugin adds skills on top of it.
Q2What can the Claude for Nonprofits plugin do?
Map where an organization keeps its records, answer staff questions from its own AI policy, research funders and open grants, break down RFPs, draft proposals and grant reports, plan campaigns, build job posts with interview guides, and prepare board decks.
Q3How many nonprofits use Claude?
More than 25,000, according to Anthropic, and more than 75% of them have fewer than 10 Claude seats.
Q4Does Anthropic train on nonprofit data?
Anthropic says it does not train its models on your data by default, and admins control who has access and which connectors the organization can use.
Q5Is Claude Code included for nonprofits?
Yes. Anthropic says Claude Code is included in nonprofit plans at no additional cost, and the Team plan minimum is now two people.
