Why .si Domains Are Trending: Trump's SI Order

At a glanceQuick answers
Why is .si trending?
Because a September 29, 2026 executive order made Super Intelligence and SI the US executive branch’s terms for AI, and .si happens to be Slovenia’s domain.
Do companies have to say SI?
No. The order covers the federal executive branch only.
How big is the rush?
Register.si counted 288,473 .si domains on October 5, up from 198,535 on September 23, with 15,208 new in the last 24 hours.

.si is Slovenia’s internet domain, and it is trending because “SI” is now the US government’s word for AI. On September 29, 2026, President Trump signed Executive Order 14434, which tells the executive branch to use Super Intelligence and SI instead of Artificial Intelligence and AI. Domain buyers raced to register .si names, Elon Musk said on October 4 that SpaceXAI will become SpaceXSI, and an AI.si listing at $699,995 went viral the same day. This page reads the order, Slovenia’s registry and the posts as of October 5, 2026.

  1. .si is Slovenia’s country-code domain. It is trending because SI is now the US government’s word for AI: Executive Order 14434, signed September 29, 2026, tells the executive branch to say Super Intelligence and SI instead of Artificial Intelligence and AI.
  2. The order binds only the federal executive branch. It defines SI by the existing legal definition of artificial intelligence and does not apply to companies or the public.
  3. Register.si’s live counter showed 288,473 .si domains on October 5, 2026, with 46,066 registered in the last month and 15,208 in the last 24 hours. On September 23 the total was 198,535.
  4. Register.si told the BBC that about 44,000 .si names were registered in September against fewer than 2,000 in August, and 11,000 on September 30 alone.
  5. Much of it is speculation: Netcraft found about 52% of the .si names it saw registered at Dynadot before the UN speech were already listed for resale a day later.
  6. On October 4 Elon Musk replied ‘Yes, we will make that change’ to a suggestion to rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI. No rename has happened yet.
  7. The AI.si domain was reported listed at $699,995 on October 4. The report names no marketplace or seller, so treat it as an asking price.

§ 01What the order says

The executive order sets the policy that the executive branch will use Super Intelligence and SI in place of Artificial Intelligence and AI “to the maximum extent permitted by law”. The White House fact sheet says it covers official correspondence, public communications, policy documents and non-statutory documents.

Two limits matter for everyone outside government:

  • It binds the federal executive branch only. Nothing in it applies to companies, the public or domain buyers.
  • SI is a new label, not a new technology. Section 3 defines Super Intelligence and SI as the technologies covered by the existing legal definition of artificial intelligence in 15 U.S.C. 9401(3).

The same week the White House launched America.gov and six companies signed the Accord on Super Intelligence, so the new term arrived alongside real policy.

That is about 45% more .si domains in twelve days. Register.si now publishes daily and monthly registration charts on a page titled “Follow the Growth of .si Domains”. Its spokeswoman told the BBC that September stood out very clearly against the rest of the year, but she was cautious about putting the whole rise down to Trump.

§ 03Who is buying

Mostly speculators. Netcraft found that .si registrations overtook .ai in the 25 hours after Trump’s UN General Assembly speech on September 22, and that about 52% of the .si names it saw registered at Dynadot in the days before that speech were already listed on Dynadot’s resale market by September 23.

Its October 1 follow-up found daily .si registrations more than doubled after the order was signed, with the sharpest jump coming through OpusDNS, a new registrar that markets to domain resellers. Netcraft also found a cluster of 87 .com domains pairing well-known brands with the word superintelligence.

Real buyers were rare before the rush. Domain Name Wire reviewed 35 .si sales from January to June 9, 2026 and found only two clear end-user purchases: Recursive.si for $20,000, by an AI company, and Military.si for $1,795.

§ 04Musk, SpaceXSI and AI.si

On October 4 at 08:40 UTC, Musk posted three short lines: no more AI, SI, it’s better. When an account asked whether SpaceXAI could become SpaceXSI, he replied at 09:07 UTC: “Yes, we will make that change”. Three minutes later he posted: “SpaceX is a super intelligence company”. As of October 5 no rename has been announced and he gave no date.

The AI.si listing came from a Polymarket news post at 15:51 UTC the same day: “AI.si domain listed for sale for $699,995”. It names no marketplace or seller. Treat it as an asking price, not a sale.

§ 05What we are watching

  • SpaceXSI. An official rename of SpaceXAI or Grok’s branding would be the first big company to follow the order.
  • Federal websites. Netcraft had found no .gov hostnames using super intelligence as of October 1; agency sites switching terms is the first visible effect of the order.
  • The .si curve. Register.si’s daily chart will show whether the rush is a spike or a new level.

Frequently asked5 questions

Q1What does Executive Order 14434 say?

That, to the maximum extent permitted by law, the executive branch will use Super Intelligence and SI in place of Artificial Intelligence and AI in official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports and policy documents. Section 3 defines SI as the technology covered by the existing legal definition of artificial intelligence.

Q2Is AI.si really for sale at $699,995?

It was reported listed at that price on October 4, 2026, in a Polymarket news post. The post names no marketplace or seller, so it is an asking price, not a sale.

Q3Is SpaceXAI renamed to SpaceXSI?

Not yet. Musk replied on X on October 4 that they will make that change and posted that SpaceX is a super intelligence company, but no date or official rename has followed.

Q4Should I buy a .si domain?

Know what you are buying: a Slovenian country-code domain. Most of the September wave was speculation, and Netcraft found half of one registrar’s early .si names relisted for resale within a day. End-user sales this year were few, such as Recursive.si at $20,000.

Q5Does this change what CellCog calls its product?

No. The order binds only the US executive branch. CellCog builds AI employees, and we cover the SI change because it shapes how buyers search for them.
