Best AI Recruiters: 9 Ranked

At a glanceQuick answers
What is the best AI recruiter?
For a small team that wants the whole pipeline worked, CellCog; for sourcing alone, Juicebox or Metaview; for an applicant tracking system with AI built in, Gem, Manatal or Workable.
How much does an AI recruiter cost?
From $15 per user a month for an AI-assisted ATS (Manatal, billed yearly) to $99-$130 for sourcing tools and $499 for an AI interviewer, read on vendor pages October 1, 2026. CellCog is usage-based: you pay for the work, not the hire.
Does it make hiring decisions?
It should not. CellCog shortlists and explains every yes and no; who to interview and hire stays your call.

The right candidate is usually in the pile; the week it takes to read the pile is what small teams do not have. We ranked nine AI recruiting tools on how much of the hiring work they take off your hands: sourcing, screening, outreach and scheduling, with every price read on the vendor’s own pricing page on October 1, 2026. We make CellCog, and it is in the table; the conflict is declared under it.

  1. A stack of candidate cards with a magnifying glass: the job is the whole pipeline.
An AI recruiter sources candidates, screens applications against your requirements, writes outreach and schedules interviews. Most tools sold under the label do one or two of those steps.
  2. Four stacked blocks of different sizes: four kinds of tool.
The category holds four kinds of tool: sourcing agents (Juicebox, Metaview, Fetcher), screening and interview tools (Truffle, Ribbon), applicant tracking systems with AI built in (Gem, Manatal, Workable) and AI employees (CellCog).
  3. A figure holding a checked clipboard with an amber hand mark: nobody is contacted without your yes.
CellCog ranks first for small teams because one AI employee sources, screens with a written reason for every yes and no, writes personal outreach and schedules, and contacts nobody without your approval. We make CellCog; the conflict is declared under the table.
  4. A price tag with a checkmark: prices read on each vendor's own page.
Juicebox is the pick if sourcing is the bottleneck: Starter is $99 per seat a month with unlimited searches. Metaview has a free plan that sources your first 100 profiles.
  5. A filing cabinet with an amber dot: the system of record for candidates.
If you need an applicant tracking system first, Manatal starts at $15 per user a month billed yearly, and Gem offers companies under 30 employees six months free.
  6. A signpost with three arms: choose by the step that hurts most.
Pick by the step that hurts most: finding people, reading applications, running interviews or keeping the pipeline moving; and keep the hiring decision with a human, whichever tool you choose.

§ 01Four kinds of AI recruiting tool

The label covers four different products. Most disappointment comes from buying the wrong kind.

Sourcing agents find people. Screening and interview tools read applications or run first-round interviews. Applicant tracking systems hold the pipeline and add AI to it. An AI employee takes the recruiting role: it sources, screens with reasons, writes to each candidate and books the interviews you approve.

§ 02The AI recruiter rankings

Rank Tool Cheapest listed plan What it does Best for

Table 1The 9 best AI recruiters for small teams (prices read on vendor pricing pages October 1, 2026)

Conflict of interest: CellCog wrote this ranking and sits at number one. The ranking rewards how much of the recruiting work one tool owns for a small team, which is how CellCog is built. If finding people is your only problem, Juicebox at number two is the better buy, and we say so in the FAQ.

§ 03Why this order

CellCog is first because the whole recruiting role sits in one AI employee: per our AI recruiter page (October 2026), it reads every application against the role with a short reason for each yes and no, writes outreach that mentions something real from each person’s background, proposes interview times from the calendars you connect, and keeps job descriptions and scorecards in your Drive so screening stays consistent. Every outreach message and rejection waits for your yes. It never makes the hiring decision.

Juicebox is second and wins on sourcing: unlimited searches on a $99 Starter seat, with a free plan to try. Metaview is close behind with a free plan that sources your first 100 profiles and a $100 Pro plan that searches around the clock.

Gem earns fourth for startups: “Under 30 employees? You get Gem All-in-One free for six months, then 50% off when you move to a paid plan.” Truffle and Manatal are the budget picks for screening and tracking. Fetcher, Workable and Ribbon cost more and do one part well: steady sourcing, an ATS bundled with HR, and first-round interviews at volume. Workable describes its agent this way: “It sources, screens and qualifies candidates - and runs on AI credits, so you only pay for the candidates it handles.”

§ 04Cheapest listed plan, side by side

Juicebox $99 Starter, per seat
Metaview $100 Pro, per user
Fetcher $115 Self-serve, as listed
Gem $130 1-10 FTE, billed yearly
Workable $299 Standard, 1-20 employees, billed yearly
Ribbon $499 Growth, billed annually

Per-seat prices multiply with your team, and Ribbon’s plan caps interviews at 100 a month. CellCog is left out of the chart because it is usage-based: the cost depends on how much work you assign, and the pricing page has the figures.

§ 06How to choose

  • If finding people is the bottleneck, choose Juicebox or Metaview.
  • If you are buried in applications, try Truffle for screening, or Ribbon for first-round interviews at volume.
  • If you have no system yet, start with Manatal, Gem or Workable.
  • If you want sourcing, screening, outreach and scheduling handled by one AI employee that asks before contacting anyone, choose CellCog.
  • Whatever you pick, read the first shortlist yourself and keep every hiring decision with a person.

§ 07The honest caveats

Prices change often, and several above are yearly-billing rates; monthly billing costs more (Manatal Professional $19, Truffle Core $119 against $99 yearly). Fetcher’s page offers annual savings without saying which view its listed prices show. Alex and Paradox, two well-known AI recruiters, sell through demos with no public price, so they are not ranked; hireEZ lists solo plans from $494 a month. Some places regulate AI in hiring, so check the rules where you hire before you automate screening.

Frequently asked5 questions

Q1What does an AI recruiter do?

It finds people who fit a role, reads applications against your written requirements, writes outreach to candidates, schedules interviews and reports on the pipeline. Some tools also run interviews by video or voice.

Q2Juicebox or CellCog?

Juicebox if your problem is finding people and you want a sourcing search you run yourself. CellCog if you want sourcing, screening, outreach and scheduling handled by one AI employee, with every message waiting for your approval.

Q3Can an AI recruiter replace my ATS?

No. CellCog works from your existing ATS (Greenhouse, Lever) or a spreadsheet; if you have no system yet, Manatal, Workable or Gem give you one with AI built in.

Q4Is there a free AI recruiting tool?

Juicebox and Metaview both list free plans, and Gem is free for six months for companies under 30 employees. CellCog lets you try it free, no credit card needed.

Q5Is it legal to screen candidates with AI?

Generally yes, with rules in some places: New York City requires a bias audit for automated employment decision tools. Check the rules where you hire, and keep the final decision with a person.
