OpenAI’s Thibault Sottiaux put numbers on the ChatGPT Pro plans on November 8, 2026: no Pro plan has a five-hour limit, and Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500 give 10, 20 and 50 times the usage of ChatGPT Plus. He posted it on X at 05:09 UTC to clear up what he called confusion, and the post passed 200,000 views within an hour.
The five-hour part is already in OpenAI’s help center. The multiples are not: no OpenAI pricing page or help article we read on November 8 publishes them. Below: what is confirmed, what each Pro dollar buys at those multiples, and what changes in December.

OpenAI’s Thibault Sottiaux said on November 8, 2026 that Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500 have no five-hour limit, which OpenAI’s help center confirms for Work and Codex.
His multiples: Pro 100 gives 10 times Plus usage, Pro 200 20 times and Pro 500 50 times. No OpenAI pricing or help page we read publishes them.
At those multiples every Pro plan pays $10 per Plus-sized allowance, half the $20 Plus price; the tiers differ in size, not rate.
No five-hour limit is not unlimited: each Pro plan still has an included allowance, and Plus keeps its five-hour window.
From December, ChatGPT and Codex share one token-based allowance on Plus, Pro and Business; Instant chat will not draw from it.
§ 01What Sottiaux said
Sottiaux, whose X profile reads Codex & ChatGPT at OpenAI, wrote: “Saw some confusions, but all Pro plans have no 5-hour limits, and give the following usage compared to Plus.” His list: Pro 100 at 10x, Pro 200 at 20x, and Pro 500 at 50x with access to Ultrafast.
Thirty-six minutes later he asked his 990,000 followers: “Would a Pro 50 make sense? Wdyt?” That post had drawn 551 replies when we read it at 06:04 UTC. He gave no price, allowance or date for such a plan.
§ 02The five-hour limit, in OpenAI’s words
OpenAI’s help article on Work and Codex usage says it plainly: “Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500 currently have no five-hour usage limit in Work and Codex.” The same article opens with the general rule, “Depending on your plan, usage limits may apply over a five-hour window and a weekly window,” and only names the Pro exception further down, which is where a quick read goes wrong.
No five-hour limit is not the same as no limit. The next sentence reads: “Your plan still has an included usage allowance.” OpenAI’s Pro page adds: “Any unlimited access included with Pro is subject to abuse guardrails.”
Plus keeps the window. OpenAI estimates how many local messages fit in one five-hour window on Plus: 5 to 45 with GPT-6 Astra, 15 to 160 with GPT-6.1 Sol, 15 to 150 with GPT-6 Sol and 350 to 3,000 with GPT-6 Luna. It calls these estimates, not guaranteed counts.
§ 03What each Pro dollar buys
| Plan | Monthly price | Usage vs Plus | Price per Plus-sized allowance | Five-hour limit in Work and Codex | Ultrafast |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plus | $20 | 1x | $20 | Yes | No |
| Pro 100 | $100 | 10x | $10 | No | No |
| Pro 200 | $200 | 20x | $10 | No | No |
| Pro 500 | $500 | 50x | $10 | No | Yes |
At these multiples every Pro plan pays the same rate: $10 for each Plus-sized allowance, half of what Plus pays. The three tiers differ in size, not in price per unit of work. The one feature only Pro 500 adds is Ultrafast, and it is expensive in allowance: OpenAI says Ultrafast on GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol uses the included allowance at 8 times the Standard rate. Run Pro 500 on Ultrafast alone and its 50x covers about 6.25 Plus allowances of Standard work.
On the Pro 50 question, the arithmetic is simple. At the same $10 rate, a $50 plan would sit at 5 times Plus. That is our calculation, not an OpenAI figure.
§ 04How 50x squares with earlier numbers
The Pro 500 figure fits OpenAI’s own record. When Pro 500 launched at DevDay on September 29, OpenAI’s recap put its allowance at 25 times Plus, as our Pro 500 record shows. On October 29 OpenAI doubled the Work and Codex allowance on Pro 100 and Pro 500 and left Plus unchanged, which we covered in ChatGPT Pro usage limits doubled. Twice 25 is 50.
OpenAI’s Pro page also warns that “A larger allowance does not guarantee twice as many completed tasks.” Usage depends on the model, the context, reasoning and the speed mode, so a 50x allowance does not mean 50 times the finished work.
§ 05What changes in December
OpenAI has already announced the next change: “Starting in December, Plus, Pro, and Business plans’ usage allowance will be shared across ChatGPT and Codex as we bring the agentic capabilities of Work into the main ChatGPT experience.” Usage will be measured in tokens, and “Instant chat will not draw from your usage.”
Neither that notice nor Sottiaux’s post says whether the multiples or the missing five-hour window carry into the shared pool. OpenAI’s notice says only: “We expect most users won’t need to wait for their usage to reset more often than they do now.” Our shared usage limit explainer tracks it.
§ 06Where CellCog sits
CellCog’s AI employees run on Claude Opus 5.5, not on ChatGPT plans, and there is no window to wait out. You pay for the work, not the hire; the cost depends purely on how much work you assign, as set out on our pricing page.
§ 07What we are watching
- OpenAI publishing the multiples. The pricing page and the Pro help article still give no figure per tier.
- A Pro 50 plan. Whether Sottiaux’s question becomes a fourth tier, and at what allowance.
- The December merge. How five-hour and weekly windows work once ChatGPT and Codex share one pool.

Q1Are the 10x, 20x and 50x figures official?
They come from a post on X by Thibault Sottiaux, who works on Codex and ChatGPT at OpenAI. OpenAI’s pricing page and help articles did not publish them as of November 8, 2026.
Q2How many messages does Plus get in five hours?
OpenAI estimates 5 to 45 local GPT-6 Astra messages per five-hour window in Work and Codex on Plus, and 15 to 160 with GPT-6.1 Sol. It calls these estimates, not guaranteed counts.
Q3Is there a Pro 50 plan?
No. Sottiaux asked on X whether one would make sense. At the $10 per Plus allowance rate the Pro plans share, a $50 plan would be 5 times Plus; that is our arithmetic, not an OpenAI figure.
Q4Does Ultrafast use more allowance?
Yes. On Pro 500, Ultrafast on GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol uses the included allowance at 8 times the Standard rate, then draws credits at 6 times the Standard credit rate.
Q5What changes in December?
Plus, Pro and Business allowances will be shared across ChatGPT and Codex and measured in tokens. Instant chat will not draw from it. OpenAI has not said how the five-hour window works after the change.
