fal, the company that hosts image, video and audio models for developers and studios, announced on November 3, 2026 that it raised $1.65 billion across two rounds. Its post on X put it plainly: “Today, we’re announcing we raised our Series E & F rounds for a combined total of $1.65B.”
Bloomberg’s Natasha Mascarenhas had the numbers behind it: a $350 million Sequoia-led round in April at an $8 billion valuation, then a $1.3 billion Bessemer-led round in October that “doubled its valuation to $16 billion”. Here is how the rounds stack up, what fal says the money is for, and what the revenue reports show.
fal announced on November 3, 2026 that it raised $1.65 billion across two rounds: a Series E led by Sequoia and a Series F led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with NVIDIA as a strategic investor.
Bloomberg reports the split: $350 million in April at an $8 billion valuation, then $1.3 billion in October at $16 billion, double in six months.
CEO Burkay Gur told Bloomberg demand outran capacity: by summer fal could not serve its customers and had to rate limit them.
fal hosts image, video and audio models for developers and studios, from Seedance and Kling to GPT Image and its own models.
Reported revenue climbed from more than $200 million in October 2025 to an $800 million annualized rate in September 2026, per Bloomberg and The Information; fal has not published audited figures.
§ 01The two rounds
fal’s own post frames them together: “To invest in both, we closed a Series E led by Sequoia Capital earlier this year, and today we are announcing it alongside our Series F, led by Bessemer Venture Partners with NVIDIA as a strategic investor.”
| Round | Announced | Amount | Valuation | Lead |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Series B | Feb 2025 | $49M | Not disclosed | Not covered here |
| Series C | Jul 2025 | $125M | $1.5B (Reuters) | Meritech |
| Series D | Dec 2025 | $140M | $4.5B (TechCrunch) | Sequoia |
| Series E | Apr 2026 | $350M | $8B (Bloomberg) | Sequoia |
| Series F | Oct 2026 | $1.3B | $16B (Bloomberg) | Bessemer |
Each valuation is at least double the one before, and the last doubling took six months. Bloomberg lists Nvidia, Sound Ventures, HOF Capital and T. Rowe Price among the Series F investors, and says Bessemer partner Talia Goldberg joins fal’s board. fal’s own post does not state either valuation.
§ 02Why so much: compute
The reason is capacity. Burkay Gur, fal’s CEO and co-founder, told Bloomberg: “We hit a point in summer where we were not able to serve our customers and had to rate limit them.” fal’s post says the money goes to “the inference capacity to run these models at scale and the team to build what comes next”, and that the rounds fund its work in 2027.
Inference is the expensive part of generative media: every second of video a customer renders runs on GPUs fal has to have in place. Bloomberg notes that other inference hosts, Modal and Baseten among them, have also been in talks to raise at steep valuations.
§ 03What the revenue reports show
fal does not publish revenue. Three outside reports trace the climb:
| Reported | Figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| October 2025 | More than $200M in revenue | Bloomberg, via TechCrunch |
| March 2026 | $400M revenue run rate | The Information |
| September 2026 | $800M annualized revenue | The Information, via Reuters |
On those reports, the $16 billion valuation is about 20 times the September annualized figure. These are reported numbers, not audited ones, and the sources do not all use the same label for revenue.
§ 04What it means for teams making video and images
fal’s model list reads like a map of the field: Seedance, Kling, Veo, GPT Image, Nano Banana, MiniMax and its own FLUX 3 Max. Most teams never call it directly; they meet it inside tools that resell those models. For them, the summer rate limits are the line to remember: when one host runs short of GPUs, everything built on it slows down, which is why capacity is what fal is buying.
Our conflict, declared: CellCog’s AI employees make video, images and audio with models we buy from hosting providers, fal among them, and we pick whichever model gives the best result for the price on each job. We have no stake in fal.
