The announcement says every major existing investor took part. Legora’s own framing of the investor list is “investors with a long time horizon”, including institutions that work with law firms and in-house teams every day.

§ 02The growth numbers

Legora was founded in 2023 and launched its platform in October 2024. Its disclosed figures:

Two figures carry the story. The United States is now Legora’s largest market by revenue, and more than half of the AmLaw 50 are customers, from a company that opened its first US office in spring 2025. And in-house legal teams, “only a small fraction of Legora’s customer base a year ago”, were more than 40% of new customers in the third quarter.

Legora also says its first $100 million of ARR came faster than at “any other enterprise software company selling through a direct sales team.” That is the company’s own claim; it does not publish the comparison set.

§ 03What the money is for

North American offices in New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Toronto and Mexico City; continued growth in Europe and Asia-Pacific; and the Legora aOS, which it describes as the system “that lawyers and their agents work in.”

The three people quoted set the tone. CEO Max Junestrand: “The opportunity in legal is enormous and we are still early.” Atreides CIO Gavin Baker: “Legal is a sophisticated market with demanding buyers, and the bar for software is high.” CFO David Eckstein: “Growth only counts if the business underneath it holds up.”

Legora’s announcement describes legal teams moving from AI assistants toward agents that carry out multi-step work. The same month, OpenAI was selling Astra for Law and Z.ai shipped GLM-Legal: the model labs and the application companies are now competing for the same law-firm budget, and the in-house number suggests the buyer base is widening beyond the big firms.

For smaller legal teams the practical question is less which platform raised the most and more which routine work an agent can take off a person’s desk: intake, deadline tracking, first-pass research and document summaries, with a lawyer reviewing every output.
