There is no single best AI tool for Shopify. There are four kinds of tool: an assistant inside your admin, an outside agent that connects to your store, a support agent for your shoppers, and a sales or quiz widget on your storefront. This page ranks eight of them as of October 4, 2026, with prices read from each vendor’s own page. One disclosure up front: we make CellCog and put it first. The rules we hold ourselves to are under the table.

- Shopify AI tools come in four kinds: an assistant inside your admin, an outside agent that connects to your store, a support agent for shoppers, and a storefront sales or quiz widget.
- Shopify Sidekick is included in every Shopify plan and edits products, discounts, collections and orders only after you review the change.
- Meta Muse’s Shopify connector builds products, collections and percentage-off codes and sets stock counts, but reads orders and customers without changing them; refunds stay in your Shopify admin.
- Shopper-facing support agents price by different units: Gorgias per resolved conversation, Klaviyo from 50 free conversations, Tidio from a free plan.
- CellCog ranks first as our own product, the one entry built to own store work across catalog, reports and marketing, with anything that moves money waiting for your yes.
§ 01The eight, ranked
| Rank | Tool | Kind | What it does in your store | Starting price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | CellCog | AI employee | Owns store work across catalog, reports and marketing; anything that moves money waits for your yes | Pay for the work, not the hire (see /pricing) |
| 2 | Shopify Sidekick | Admin assistant | Built into your admin; edits products, discounts, collections and orders after your review | Included with Shopify plans, Basic from $29/mo billed yearly |
| 3 | Meta Muse (Shopify connector) | Outside agent | Products, collections, stock counts and percentage-off codes; orders, customers and analytics read-only | No Shopify fee; Muse subscription paid to Meta |
| 4 | Gorgias AI Agent | Support agent | Answers shoppers and handles order issues in a support inbox | Charged per resolved conversation, on every plan |
| 5 | Klaviyo Customer Agent | Support agent | Answers questions and recommends products for shoppers | 50 free conversations; 1,000 a month for $700 |
| 6 | Tidio Lyro | Support agent | FAQ and product answers in chat | Free plan; Starter $24.17/mo |
| 7 | Rep AI | Storefront sales agent | Engages shoppers on the storefront and recommends products | 100 free visitors a month; Starter $104/mo |
| 8 | Octane AI | Quiz and personalization | Product quizzes that recommend and collect preferences | Basic $50/mo, or $43/mo billed yearly |
How we ranked, and the conflict. CellCog is our product. We put it first because it is the only entry here built to own a role across the store rather than one task, and we say so plainly so you can discount it. We give it no score, every claim about it links to our own Shopify page, and where another tool is the better buy for your job we say so below. If all you want is help inside your admin, Sidekick is already in your plan and is the right first stop.
§ 02Four kinds of tool, and which job each fits
Inside your admin. Sidekick lives in the Shopify admin and, in Shopify’s words, “presents changes for your review before applying them.” It runs analytics, fills forms, edits products, discounts and collections, and edits orders, where “The order updates only after you review the changes and click Update order.” It costs nothing extra on top of your Shopify plan.
An outside agent that connects to your store. Shopify lets ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Muse connect through its own sign-in. Each connection is scoped by the access you approve, and Shopify warns that once you authorize it, “At that point, your data leaves the Shopify environment and is governed by that provider’s terms and privacy policy.” Muse’s connector is the clearest documented example: it builds products and collections and sets stock counts, but “The connector reads your orders but doesn’t change them.” For refunds and cancellations, Shopify says: “To edit, refund, or cancel an order, use your Shopify admin.” We covered the launch in Muse for small business.
A support agent for your shoppers. Gorgias, Klaviyo and Tidio answer the people who buy from you. Gorgias puts it as “AI Agent on every plan, pay only when it resolves a conversation.” Klaviyo’s Customer Agent starts with 50 free conversations and lists 1,000 a month at $700. Tidio has a free plan and paid plans from $24.17 a month.
A storefront sales or quiz widget. Rep AI engages shoppers on your pages, free for the first 100 visitors a month and $12 per extra 1,000, with a $104 Starter plan. Octane AI builds product quizzes from $50 a month.
§ 03What the cheapest paid plans cost
| Tool | Plan | Monthly price | What the price counts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tidio Lyro | Starter | $24.17 | Chat conversations |
| Shopify (Sidekick included) | Basic, billed yearly | $29 | Your whole store plan |
| Octane AI | Basic | $50 | 400 credits |
| Rep AI | Starter | $104 | Plus $12 per extra 1,000 visitors |
| Klaviyo Customer Agent | 1,000 conversations | $700 | AI conversations a month |
The chart leaves out three tools on purpose. Gorgias charges per resolved conversation, Muse is billed by Meta, and CellCog is priced by the work you assign, so none has a like-for-like monthly number. Klaviyo’s $700 tier is in the table but off the chart because it would flatten the rest.
§ 04Where CellCog stands
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| How it connects | Through Shopify’s own sign-in, with the permissions you approve; you can disconnect at any time |
| Catalog work | Writes and updates product listings, images, collections and prices when you ask |
| Reports | Reads orders and customers to build reports, for example a weekly read on best sellers and repeat buyers |
| Marketing | Drafts launch emails, social posts and ad copy from your catalog, sent only on your approval |
| Money | It does not take payments or change payment settings; anything that moves money or that customers see waits for your yes |
| Wake-ups | Store events such as a product created or updated, or a collection change, can wake it |
| Limits | It is not a chat widget for your shoppers; it has no wake-up on a new order or a new customer today |
Our Shopify page puts the money rule this way: “It does not take payments or change your payment settings, and anything that moves money or that customers see waits for your yes.”
§ 05How to choose
- You want help inside your admin and nothing else: start with Sidekick. It is already in your plan.
- Your shoppers ask the same questions all day: pick a support agent. Gorgias if you want a full helpdesk, Klaviyo if your email and SMS already live there, Tidio if you want the cheapest start.
- You want more sales from the storefront: Rep AI for a sales agent, Octane AI for quizzes.
- You want someone to own the work between the apps: listings, reports, launch emails and the follow-up nobody gets to. That is what an AI employee is for.
Many stores run two of these: one tool facing shoppers, and one agent or employee running the back office.
§ 06The honest caveats
- Prices move. Every price here was read from the vendor’s own page on October 4, 2026; check before you buy.
- What an outside agent can do depends on the access you approve, and on each vendor’s own connector. Shopify documents its connectors for ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Muse; Manus also offers a Shopify connector on paid plans.
- Support-agent prices count different units (conversations, resolutions, visitors), so compare them on your own volume.

Q1What AI tools work with Shopify?
Shopify’s own Sidekick and Shopify Magic, outside agents that connect through Shopify’s sign-in such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Meta Muse, support agents such as Gorgias, Klaviyo Customer Agent and Tidio Lyro, storefront tools such as Rep AI and Octane AI, and AI employees such as CellCog.
Q2Should I use Sidekick or an AI employee?
Start with Sidekick if you want help inside your admin; it is already in your plan. Hire an AI employee when you want someone to own recurring work across apps, such as weekly reports, listing updates and launch emails.
Q3Which Shopify AI tool answers customer questions?
A support agent. Gorgias AI Agent for a full helpdesk charged per resolved conversation, Klaviyo Customer Agent if your email and SMS already live in Klaviyo, or Tidio Lyro for the cheapest start with a free plan.
Q4Does connecting an AI tool share my store data?
Yes, within the access you approve. Shopify says that once you authorize a third-party AI tool, your data leaves the Shopify environment and is governed by that provider’s terms and privacy policy.
Q5Does CellCog take payments or issue refunds on its own?
No. A CellCog AI employee does not take payments or change payment settings, and anything that moves money or that customers see waits for your yes.
