Claude Dashboards and Motion: What's New, Who Gets It

At a glanceQuick answers
What is Claude Dashboards?
A beta feature, launched October 8, 2026, that builds a live dashboard from a plain-language question against a connected data platform or CRM, with the query shown for every chart.
What is Claude Motion?
A beta feature that turns reports, charts or walkthroughs into short animations written as code, exported as MP4. It uses no video generation model.
Which plans get them?
Dashboards is on paid plans (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise). Motion is on Team and Enterprise only. Docs, Slides and Design are on every plan, including Free.

Anthropic announced Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion on October 8, 2026, both in beta, and took the beta label off Claude Docs, Slides and Design. The @claudeai thread went up at 19:01 UTC. Dashboards turns company data into a live dashboard from a plain-language question. Motion turns reports, charts or product walkthroughs into short animations, built as code rather than generated video.

Anthropic frames the two around one idea: “Each chart shows the query behind it, and each animation is built as code you can edit.” And: “Claude makes the first version, and you decide what gets shared.”

  1. A dashboard panel beside a play button: dashboards and animations.
Anthropic launched Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion in beta on October 8, 2026, and moved Claude Docs, Slides and Design out of beta onto every plan, including Free.
  2. A database cylinder feeding a bar chart: data turned into a dashboard.
Claude Dashboards connects to a warehouse such as BigQuery or Snowflake, or a CRM such as Salesforce, builds a dashboard from a plain-language question and keeps it current. Every chart shows its query.
  3. A code bracket next to a filmstrip: animation built as code.
Claude Motion turns reports, charts and walkthroughs into short animations written as code, with no video model and no AI-generated people, exported as MP4.
  4. Two stacked tiers with a lock on the top one: plan-gated features.
Dashboards is on paid plans (Pro from $17 a month billed annually). Motion is on Team and Enterprise only.
  5. A calendar page with a door closing: a site shutting down on a date.
Standalone Claude Design closes on December 14, 2026; design systems can be migrated into Claude now.

On the pricing page, Pro is $17 a month billed annually ($20 monthly) and Max starts at $100 a month. The individual plan table lists Motion as not included on Free, Pro or Max.

§ 02Claude Dashboards

You connect a warehouse or CRM and ask a question, for example how this week’s signups compare with last month’s. Claude writes the query, builds the dashboard and keeps it current as the data changes. You can click any number to see its query, and each chart shows when its data last refreshed. Anthropic pitches it for quick, exploratory questions. Anything deeper goes on to a BI tool: dashboards export to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog or Sigma, with Looker, monday.com and Tableau coming soon.

§ 03Claude Motion

Motion is for explaining your own work: a quarterly report as a 30-second all-hands explainer, motion on a board-deck chart, a product walkthrough for onboarding. Anthropic is explicit about what it is not: “It doesn’t use a video generation model, so there’s no generated footage and no AI-generated people.” Because each animation is code, any word, number or timing can be changed before you download the MP4. Finished pieces can move on to Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI or Runway, with Canva and Captions coming soon.

§ 04Docs, Slides and Design leave beta

Anthropic says “people have made more than 45 million docs, decks, and designs in Claude” since these tools arrived in every conversation. Artifacts now support customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK), admins choose which templates their organization uses, and slides, designs, dashboards and animations can be shared outside the organization if the admin allows it.

The standalone Claude Design site is closing. Per Anthropic’s migration guide, it stays at claude.ai/design until December 14, 2026; design systems can be migrated now from the Artifacts page, and chats and comments left in the standalone version will not carry over. For Enterprise, the product page says Docs, Slides and Design turn on by default on October 15, 2026, except in HIPAA-enabled organizations, while Dashboards and Motion stay off until an admin turns them on.

§ 05Claude Dashboards and Motion vs a CellCog AI employee

Claude Dashboards and Motion CellCog AI employee
Dashboards Built from a question against a connected warehouse or CRM; each chart shows its query Built as an interactive web app from your connected tools, and refreshed on a schedule the employee owns
Video Code-built animations of your own text, charts and images; no video model Animated explainers and generated video, including AI footage, voices and music
Who does the work You ask, Claude makes the first version, you decide what is shared An employee holds the role, keeps memory between tasks and waits for your approval on anything above the level you set
Access Dashboards on paid plans; Motion on Team and Enterprise Anyone; try it free, no credit card needed
Table 2Claude’s new artifacts and a CellCog AI employee, from each maker’s own pages

Our conflict, declared: we build CellCog, and every tier of our AI employees runs on Claude Opus 5.5. These launches make dashboards and explainers a normal thing to ask an AI for, which is good for anyone buying one. The difference is who keeps the dashboard alive next week: a Claude chat answers when you ask, while a CellCog employee owns the report and comes back to it. We wrote up how our agents make any document from one prompt.

§ 06What we are watching for

  • Motion on individual plans. Today it is Team and Enterprise only.
  • Dashboards leaving beta, and whether the Looker, monday.com and Tableau hand-offs ship.
  • The December 14 shutdown of standalone Claude Design, and how many teams migrate.

Frequently asked5 questions

Q1Which data sources does Claude Dashboards connect to?

Anthropic names Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks and Snowflake, plus other connectors such as Salesforce. Dashboards can be sent on to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog or Sigma.

Q2Does Claude Motion generate video?

No. Anthropic says Motion does not use a video generation model, so there is no generated footage and no AI-generated people. Claude writes code that animates your text, charts, shapes and images, and you export an MP4.

Q3Is Claude Motion available on Pro or Max?

Not at launch. Anthropic’s pricing page lists Motion as not included on Free, Pro or Max; it is in beta on Team and Enterprise plans.

Q4What happens to standalone Claude Design?

It stays at claude.ai/design until December 14, 2026, then redirects to Claude. Design systems can be migrated from the Artifacts page; chats and comments in the standalone version will not carry over.

Q5How does this compare with a CellCog AI employee?

Claude builds a dashboard or animation when you ask in a chat. A CellCog AI employee holds a role, builds dashboards as interactive web apps, keeps them refreshed on its own schedule, and can also generate video with AI footage, voices and music.
